VIDEO TEXT:

Hi. My name is Larry Cohen. In my work with clients, I use a really practical, active and results-oriented approach called cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT). I don’t spend much time at all on trying to figure out the past origins and history of your problems. Instead, I help you learn and apply specific strategies, skills and techniques so you can overcome your problems in the present, and achieve whatever personal therapy goals you choose for yourself, such as: socializing, making friends, forming relationships, being assertive, public speaking, advancing your career, and improving your mood and self-confidence.

Together with you, we figure our the vicious cycles you unintentionally engage in–cycles of distorted thoughts, upsetting feelings, unhealthy core beliefs, and self-defeating behaviors–cycles that help cause your problems and make you feel stuck. And then, we experiment with different ways of breaking those vicious cycles by applying the strategies, skills and techniques that I train and guide you in.

It’ll take hard work and determination on both of our parts. But if you’re really committed to doing the therapy homework regularly–homework that you choose for yourself in collaboration with me–you’re very likely to be making significant progress toward your goals in a matter of a few months.

It’s my objective to help train you to become your own personal therapist. In other words, when we end our work together, I leave you with insights, strategies, skills and techniques that you can continue using on your own to help you reach further goals and handle future problems.

Thank you. I look forward to hearing from you.
